“[I] drink more water than I use to, have more energy....”

“I try to drink more water and I have a habit of reading the label. I’m more aware of what I need to do in order to lose weight and to stay as health as possible. The best thing that has happened is me and my family are more aware of our bad habits. We work together to improve them now. Thank you.”

“We learned so much.  Thank you!  Reading labels more.  Cutting down on the amounts of food we eat.” ---(FFL Class Graduate 7/30/08)

“My son and I eat healthy snacks.  We try to do more exercise as a family.  Try to watch portions.” ---(FFL Class Graduate 7/30/08)

“Great program.  Eating more veggies and fruits.  Try to get some type of exercise each day.” ---(FFL Class Graduate 7/30/08)

FAB Families Diabetic Summit:  Getting To The Heart Of The Matter

On Saturday, February 14th (2009), FAB Families held its first Diabetic Summit at Enoch Davis Recreational Center in Saint Petersburg, Florida.  122 community members attended the Summit.  It was four full hours of diabetic education and fun.

All of the attendees expressed appreciation for the Summit and stated that they had learned something new.  Interactive sessions of both "Cooking" and "Exercise" presented opportunities for the community to learn about FAB Families FREE community programs / services.  Attendees were also given opportunities to ask pharmacists, nurses, & dieticians questions.  Health screenings were available and a doctor closed the Summit by answering general questions and providing words of inspiration.  Join us as we are "Living FABulously for Health"!

“I really enjoyed the information I received at the FAB Families Diabetic Summit.  One of the things I learned was about reading food labels and the 80/20 Rule.  I had never heard of that before and now use that rule when grocery shopping.  Thank you for bringing the Summit to our community.  The staff/panel were very professional and made me feel very comfortable asking questions.  Please do it again!” ---Summit Attendee
