“Since I started partici-pating in the FAB Families’ programs back in August of2008 at the Johnnie Ruth Clarke Center, my quality of life has changed 100%. I was first diagnosed in August 2003 with diabetes and it changed my life. I couldn’t eat or drink the things that I was used to anymore. I mean, I could eat or drink the wrong things, but at a higher cost MY LIFE and that’s one gamble I don’t want to take. So, I started with the Diabetic Nutritional Classes, then theStrengthening Training classes of which I’m attending weekly. [I’m also] checking my blood glucose levels everyday and taking my medication.
In all, I told myself that my new course of life wasn’t going to happen overnight and to keep positive thoughts, have the FAB Families [programs] by my side to guide me and the LORD in my heart, I shouldn’t go wrong.”

Health Behavior Faith-Based Grant Programs
Mini-Grants are awarded to support Programs promoting healthy behaviors that would reduce diabetes and/or childhood obesity and lead to positive, sustained lifestyle changes within the various congregations.
